The degradable mould project was a proof of concept project in order to create complex concrete shapes. By 3D printing the 1 part mould in a degradable material it was possible to cast a complex concrete shape before degrading away the mould. The concept was inspired by the concrete coral projects based around the UK coast, and would enable a huge variety of complex shapes for the concrete coral blocks being installed in the water.
The method was highly automatable, could acheive highly complex or intriquite designs, and could be acheived in a highly cost effective mannor.
